A Faith Manifesto
Getting your mind right about God, Prayer, and Faith
C. Alan Martin
1 John 5:14-15
14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that,
if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we
know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
If I come to your house and see the soup pot empty and say "I see your soup pot is empty"... unless you were paranoid or just a nut you would not take this as an accusation of anything! It is just a statement of fact. If you are not healed or if your prayer is not answered it is for one reason only: for whatever reason belief is not present. The issue is not with God or even with your integrity. It is a matter of finding out why you cannot believe. It is not "why did God say no" to a valid request... (to even think that does not please God). It is "why can I not believe on this issue." Maybe you cannot believe because the thing you are asking for is outside the realm of good and perfect things that we can ask for (i.e. drugs). God would say no to drugs if He heard such prayer... but He does not even hear it because you cannot believe for it and so the prayer does not even reach above the ceiling of your prayer room.
There are some teachers and ministers in the church who have listened to satan and are spreading a roadblock to their people’s faith. Satan sidles up next to us and suggests to us that we are being attacked by insensitive people. He pets our bruised egos and tells us we are ok and it is that mean brother Martin who is upbraiding and condemning them for “not having enough faith”. To say "faith is not present" is not an "upbraid." It is a diagnosis. It is simply a statement made after the observance of the facts. Many insist, on making the presence or absence of faith a character issue when it is not. Since faith is a gift from God, then why would the presence or lack of it be a character issue?
Sometimes people think of faith as if it were money. If I just had enough I could get anything I wanted. But receiving by faith in God is not "how much" faith you have; it is the content of your faith. Faith is words... and that which you are having faith for must be described by those words. You can have a ton of faith when it comes to salvation... and of course that is crucial. But a ton of faith for salvation does not mean you have a ton of faith for healing. The faith you have for healing has to be described by the words you are holding fast to.

17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Or the Prophetic School Version:
“...so then the belief comes by a revelation into the spirit, and a revelation into the spirit comes by a word directly spoken by Christ...”
